Crossply MG Midget Tires
520 - 13 Crossply tires were initially fitted to the MG Midget. If you want a crossply in this size, we can offer the 5.20 x 13 Camac. We would not recommend the Camac as is a budget tire that will not provide the performance of a premium crossply tire or radial tire, currently there are no premium crossply tires in this size.
Radial MG Midget Tires
From 1972 the Midget fitted 145-13 tires radial tires as standard equipment. We would recommend fitting 145HR13 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 radial tires to all Midget's.
The Midget's precise handling will be complemented by the progressive handling of the PIRELLI CINTURATO TM CA67, with a carcass designed to compliment the suspension and steering of cars from this era rather than simply having the correct size.

1978 MG Midget 1500
They are manufactured using modern quality control strategies to ensure that these tires are of a very high quality and use up-to-date modern compounds, the small tire footprint and period carcass will grant the best possible grip, these benefits will be especially noticeable by their effectiveness in the wet.
MG Midget Alternative Tires
The 145 HR 13 Michelin XAS FF is an excellent alternative tire for the MG Midget. Another modern period tire, featuring asymmetric technology from one of the world's best vintage tire producers. This tire will also work nicely on the Midget.
Many people want to fit bigger wheels and larger tires, in which case we would suggest the 175/70 VR 13 PIRELLI CINTURATO CN36, however the correct size is preferable. Fitting bigger tires can have a detrimental influence on gearing and is likely to impede handling; if wider tires were better, MG would have fitted them.
MG Midget Alternative Innertubes
Whether you use a crossply tire or a radial tire, the 13E innertube is the perfect size for these tires. We recommend using Michelin innertubes because they are the finest in our experience. Crossply tires require innertubes, although radial tires do not. However, if you use wire wheels, you must always use an innertube.
MG Midget History
The MG Midget is a compact two-seater sports automobile manufactured by MG between 1961 and 1979. The original MG Midget, introduced at the end of June 1961, was essentially a more expensive, badge-engineered version of the MkII Austin-Healey Sprite deluxe edition. The initial 'frogeye' Sprite was designed largely to fill the market void left by the discontinuation of the MG T-type Midget, since its replacement, the MGA, was a significantly larger and more expensive car with enhanced performance. To justify its increased price, the new MG Midget differed in grille design, badging, improved inside trim, improved instrumentation, and the addition of an external polished trim.
