- Tire pressure for a Porsche 356 ranges from 18-29 PSI depending on the year and specific model, the type of tires that you decide to fit, and pressure differences for front and rear tires.

- The Porsche 356 originally fitted 525X16 crossply tires, in this size we offer the 5.00/5.25 x 16 Avon Tourist. Later the Porsche 356 moved onto 165 HR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67.

Porsche 356 Tires
Porsche 356 C
The first Pre A 356 fitted 16" wheels and 525X16 tires. We advise fitting the 5.00/5.25 x 16 Avon Tourist. The exciting news for these early Pre-A 356 Porsche is that there is a plan afoot for Pirelli to produce the 5.25-16 Stella Bianca again, which will be the perfect period crossply, built for sports cars such as these early Porsche.
The 5.60-15 Crossply tires and 15" wheels were changed for the Porsche 356 A. We do not presently have a crossply tire that we would advise using on a 356A. In our opinion the greatest vintage tire for a Porsche 356A or 356B is the 165 HR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67.
The Porsche 356 was equipped with either the 165 HR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 or the no longer manufactured 165R15 Dunlop produced in Germany. The only authentic vintage tire that would have been available when the 356 was manufactured and was an option on early 911s is the 165HR15 CINTURATO TM CA67.
Early 911s may be equipped with the 1965 Asymmetric Michelin XAS tire in the 165-15 size. The 165 VR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO CN36 is a later, 1968 V-rated tire that now has the N4 marking it as homologated by Porsche.
Porsche 356 Wider Tires
Some folks want to equip their 356 with bigger tires. The 185/70 WR 15 PIRELLI CINTURATO CN36 is the best tire in this situation because of its carcass. Longstone does not advise taking this path since wider tires can negatively affect the handling and overall performance of vehicles like the 356. However, if you are determined to fit a wider tire the CN36 will return the best results, as it’s carcass is suited to an early Porsches chassis set-up, however, a 165 tire is better for a 356.

Porsche 356 Innertubes
The 356 was released in an era where tubeless technology was in its infancy. 356 Cars left the factory on tube-type wheels that require innertubes. Fitting tubeless radial tires to these wheels still require you to fit tubes in order for the wheel to function.
If you have a Pre A 356 on 525X16 tires then the Michelin 16E is the ideal innertube. For the other suggested tires in the 165 - 15 size, the Michelin 15E is the ideal innertube.

Porsche 356 History
Porsche 356 Speedster
Porsche is said to have been born officially on June 8, 1948. The initial vehicle was a 356/2, 1.1-liter vehicle with a decent 40 horsepower and a curb weight of about 650 kg. If any of the original 50 356/2 Porsche were to be discovered, they would be almost priceless because the first 50 hand-built vehicles resembled the famous 356 Porsche that would subsequently be produced.
The Rutter firm in Germany was tasked with producing the first 500 examples of the iconic 356 Porsche that we all know and love in late 1949. The 356 featured a 1.1-liter engine that produced 40 horsepower, and because to its excellent aerodynamics, it was able to reach an astonishing 140 kph. At the time of the 356 Porsche's creation, Mr. Ferry Porsche believed it was unlikely that the business would sell more than 500 of them. This turned out to be a good judgement error. 5,000 cars left the plant on March 15, 1954.
The renowned Porsche emblem wasn't seen until 1953. The last of the stunning 356 Porsches, which had been produced for a successful 17 years, had departed the factory by 1965. A total of 76,000 356 Porsches were produced, 1,194 of which were different Carrera models.
